Conveying Influence – Leadership Beyond Titles

When a boy in Minnesota receives a yellow Lab puppy from his grandfather on his birthday, he has no idea how much one small dog will change his world. Together they grow up through seasons of laughter, hockey games, high school dreams, and first love — and through the struggles that shape a heart. His loyal yellow lab is always by his side, bringing joy to his friends, comforting those who have lost, and reminding everyone that love is stronger than pain.

The Day My Dog Went to Heaven is a tender, funny, and faith-filled coming-of-age story about friendship, loss, and the promise of forever. Through every joy and heartbreak, it reminds us that heaven is never far from those who believe — and that sometimes, the ones we love most are waiting just beyond the pasture.

About

Why I Wrote a Book About a Dog

The answer is directly connected to why I love dogs and why I believe this beautiful animal is a gift sent to us by God. Dogs are among the most lively and cheerful creatures in the world, yet they are incredibly emotional. No other pet is as empathetic as a dog. They have an extraordinary ability to understand what we feel, relate to our emotions, and even experience those emotions alongside us.

The reason they shine so brightly in our memories is because of how deeply connected they become to us. Their closeness comes from their remarkable emotional awareness—they sense our joys, our pain, and our silent moments in ways words could never express. Their emotional intelligence is incredible, and because of this, they naturally become companions through every phase of our lives.

This is why you smile whenever you think of your dog. It’s the purity of their intentions, the sincerity of their love, and the comfort they bring without asking for anything in return. They deserve far more care and appreciation for standing by us through our highest and lowest moments.
